It has been a stressful year for me with a long term medical crisis with a family member and the passing of another. Roti has shown me the healing power of caring and food. The staff consistently provides high quality meals tailored to the various food restrictions of my family members. Family dinner celebrations at Roti are joyous. Quiet lunches are nice too! Even with an open kitchen, it is never too noisy for conversation. Thank you Roti for demonstrating the true sense of community.

Good assortment of food and excellent service. The owner came by to chat with us, which was an added touch. The only criticism is that it was too loud and we could barely carry on a conversation. The restaurant was not full, so I can imagine what its like when it is really busy.

We've never been in person but Roti is one of our favorite places to order in! Very high quality Indian. That said I'm giving 4 stars as I have had a frustrating experience I'd like to pass on to management. When we order in we purposely select "mild" on the spiciness level as we have a toddler. And the last several times the food has been incredibly spicy. I love spice and we wouldn't mind if it were just for us but I gave some to our toddler and she flipped out. So with no option to make the food not spicy - we can't order this in until this is adjusted. Otherwise a great place!

Came here for Sunday lunch. Place was only about 30% full. We made reservations but didn't need it at the time. We were greeted with a smile and serviced immediately. We did have to ask for anything because the server was quite attentive. Please was clean, well decorated and welcoming. Food was very good but not great. Everything was tasty and d we have no complaints. Was hungry and in a rush to eat and I forget to take individual pictures of each dish. Darn. I hate that when it happens. Enjoyed the experience and will return. We do recommend.

Very friendly service in a more quiet ambiance. Lots of cozy seating in moody lighting so it can get a little loud, but it adds to the energy of the space. We went on a busy weekend dinner and they accommodated us pretty quickly. The curries were delicious and the spice level was just right. The chai was also very flavorful and spicy with the option to adjust the sweetness to your liking with sugar cubes!

After a few visits it's time to give Roti a well deserved review. They have consistently delivered phenomenal service but the 5 stars go to the outstanding food and cocktails. Hands down the best Indian food that we have in a long time. Fresh ingredients paired with delicious drinks in a cozy and charming atmosphere. Pro-tip this place is busy so it's best to make a reservation.

This is my favorite Indian Restaurant in San Francisco. Service is great and the food is consistently tasty. I know, because i have been there a bajillion times, and I've always had an orgasmic experience. My personal favorite dish is the Chicken Tikka Masala because i love how creamy it is, and it goes so well with the soft naan or with rice. Speaking of bread, i sometimes order a stack of naans to take home. Wear your stretchy pants people, because YOU WILL EAT!!!!

It's been nine years since I posted my review of Roti and I am taking a moment to say that I need to eat at this place more often. We always have thought of it as one of our "special occasion" places, but it deserves better. Prices, which once seemed splurge-level to us, now are shockingly reasonable. Service remains adequate, if perfunctory when the place is crowded. The food, though! If there's better Indian cuisine in San Francisco, I have no idea where it could be. Tonight we enjoyed the bread basket (with kulcha, garlic naan, and plain naan), a bone-in goat curry on special, seekh kebab, murgh makhani, bangan bharta, spinach and lentils, white rice, and three soft drinks. The bill came to a very reasonable $145 before tip. Every dish was spectacular. The goat was tender and needs to be added to the menu permanently, the butter chicken was easier to cut with a fork than is butter itself, the seekh kebab was moist as could be, and the vegetable dishes were rich beyond compare. We intentionally order more than we can consume at the restaurant, looking to lunch the next day, but portions tonight seemed larger, even much larger, than I remembered, so we barely made a dent in what we ordered before getting to-go containers. We went home with a full bag of leftovers, enough for at least a couple more meals apiece for the three of us. I have almost zero quibbles beyond the crazy loudness level, which hasn't changed over the years. This was a great meal that reminded us that we need to eat here more than a couple times a year. Roti has lasted as long as it has in a high rent area for a reason. Unless Indian food just isn't your thing, you will enjoy this place, I am absolutely confident.

This is my second time dining in and still recommend and still not disappointed. Initially was concerned about pricing and thought it seem high but once we tasted the chicken biryani (which is how I usually judge my Indian restaurants) it made sense to me. The spices are fresh and you can taste the freshness. The biryani tasted like this fancy place that is been to about 20 years ago in Mumbai where the quality of the food mattered. What we were served and ate this evening wasn't just like a generic Indian restaurant. Service was the same as the last time I visited, warm and courteous. There wasn't space available and we didn't have a reservation but we were accomodated on the patio when we asked. It doesn't have a heater but we were dressed warm and the parklet enclosure didn't allow any wind in. TLDR Will come back. It was worth it.
